Every tile reveal in Mines changes the conditional probability of the next. With 3 mines, your first click has an 88% survival rate (22/25). By the 10th reveal, the odds have shifted dramatically. This free simulator lets you explore how mine count affects probability, expected value, and risk at each decision point.

Reveal tiles on a 5x5 grid and explore how each reveal changes the conditional probability of survival.
Free to play · No signup required
This free Mines probability simulator uses a 5x5 grid of 25 hidden tiles. Before each round, you choose how many mines to place (1-24). The remaining tiles contain gems. Click tiles to reveal them — each gem you uncover increases your running multiplier. You can cash out at any point, or keep revealing tiles for higher payouts. Hit a mine and your bet is lost.
The multiplier for each reveal is calculated from the exact probability of survival. With 3 mines, your first click has a 22/25 chance of being safe, paying approximately 1.13x. By the 10th safe reveal, you've beaten increasingly unlikely odds and the multiplier reflects that. With 24 mines, even your first click has only a 1/25 chance — but it pays 24x instantly.
Multipliers are derived directly from the conditional survival probability at each reveal step. Use the stats panel to track your performance and experiment with different mine counts to find your risk preference. See our Mines strategy guide for detailed probability tables.
Watch the 5×5 board shift from green to red as you go deeper. This real-time tool shows exactly how danger escalates with each tile you reveal — survival probability, multiplier growth, and danger level at every step.

Find the optimal exit point for any mine count. This tool tests every possible reveal depth simultaneously and highlights the exit point that maximizes risk-adjusted return — plus an instant calculator for your current game position.
Next reveal has 88.0% survival. If successful, multiplier jumps from 0.00x to 1.12x. Expected gain: +0.986 per unit.
Compare how different mine counts affect your outcomes at the same reveal depth. All configurations follow the same probability model, but the variance and risk profile differ dramatically.
